Who is Doc in your Corner?
My name is Danielle Savage, and I’m a board certified Internal Medicine Physician. I practiced in my community for 10 years, serving as a primary care physician for many amazing patients and families. I loved my patients and my practice, and always tried my best to help my patients navigate our confusing medical system, spending countless hours arguing with insurance companies and connecting with their other specialists to ensure that we were all on the same page. Medical appointments are often cut short based on scheduling and insurance requirements, which leaves little time for patients to digest foreign and often scary information, resulting in a struggle to ask the right questions and to adequately understand their medical conditions and treatment options.
In the past 5 years, I’ve found myself in the role of advocate for some health challenges in my own family. For basic medical challenges, a primary care physician or specialist can effectively guide a patient. But after guiding my family through some severely complex medical conditions, it became clear to me that having a physician “in their corner” was necessary in order to help them understand their medications, ask the right questions of their physician team and help them to clearly comprehend their medical conditions, resulting in informed decision-making.
I often worried about patients who did not have this kind of advocate, because I knew their care could suffer without guidance. And so, Doc in your Corner was born, with the help and wisdom of so many knowledgeable people along the way. I hope to be able to advocate for your and your family’s health in the way I was able to advocate for my own family and my patients- to help you understand, ask the right questions, and facilitate communication amongst your medical team so that you feel empowered to make the right healthcare decisions for you and your loved ones. I specialize in assisting those with elderly family members who need help navigating their care.
